Cosmetic Treatments and Skin Lesions

Seborrheic Keratosis

Some people are prone to develop these yellow-brown benign skin growths as they get older. They tend to cluster on the neck, face, chest and back. Some of them can be itchy or irritating if they rub on clothes or jewelry. They can be safely removed by either laser of surgical excision. Contact us for a free consultation.

Moles and Pigmented Lesions

Most of the time, moles and discolorations on the skin are harmless. However, they can be an annoyance to some people. For that reason, we can use surgical or aesthetical tools to remove them. However, if your mole has any characteristics that suggest it may not be completely benign you will need a biopsy for pathological diagnosis first. Mole removal is usually not covered by OHIP. Please contact us to book a free consultation.

Botox Treatments

Neurotoxins (Botox and other similar molecules) inhibit the release of chemicals that make the muscles contract. The medication acts by causing a temporary relaxation of the target muscle and therefore prevents formation of deep skin creases. All injections are performed by dr. Nascu.

Laser Hair Removal

We proudly use the most comfortable laser system on the market to target unwanted hair and let you achieve that smooth, silky feeling without any more shaving or painful waxing. All areas of the body for men and women have been successfully treated with the Nd-YAG laser.

Skin Tags

A skin tag is a piece of soft, hanging skin that may have a peduncle, or stalk. They can appear anywhere on the body, but especially where skin rubs. The small ones can be treated by cryotherapy by your family physician. Snipping or excision, either with scissors or a scalpel, may be a better option for larger skin tags. Because skin tag is considered cosmetic, these procedures are usually not covered by insurance. Please contact us to discuss your concerns.

Eyelid Xanthelasma

Small collection of yellow fat under the eyelid skin can be removed by laser or a small surgery. Contact us to book a free consultation for laser removal.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive technique that promotes the production of new collagen and elastin for optimal skin health and appearance. During a microneedling procedure a device with very small needles is used to puncture the dermis. The mild inflammatory response created stimulates your skin’s natural defense resulting in a natural improvement in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improved skin tone and texture, decrease in sun-damage and improved skin elasticity. Contact us to book a consultation for microneedling.

Hemangiomas and Venous Lakes

Sometimes, the body forms red spots, red bumps and other types of redness that won’t go away. The good news is that most of these can be painlessly and quickly treated by our laser system. Contact us for a free consultation.

Acne and Surgical Scars

Acne scars form after deep, inflammatory infections in the skin pores that don’t heal well. When this lesion breaks open your skin, a scar forms just like it does after any surgical intervention. Acne and surgical scars can have different shapes, but they can significantly affect a person’s self-esteem. We specialize in improving the appearance of pitted or depressed scars using laser, microneedling and plasma injections.

Hyperhidrosis

Both men and women can be embarrassed by excessive sweating causing stains and awkward social situations. Injectable neurotoxins (Botox) can help tremendously with this problem. The procedure is virtually painless and many insurance companies will cover the cost of the treatment.

Pilar (scalp) Cysts and other benign skin lesions

Because these lumps are benign, they are often ignored until they become infected or really large. This doesn't mean nothing can be done for them! At Acantha Clinic our surgeons will quickly and efficiently remove cysts, lipomas and other skin lesions, so you don't have to worry about them anymore. These treatments are not covered by OHIP. Please call or email us for a consultation.

Note

Lesions concerning for cancer should be first assessed by your family physician and require a referral. Non-cancerous lesion treatment is not covered by OHIP.
